Three Reliable Vampire Survivors Build Templates
Three reliable Vampire Survivors build templates
There is no single best build for every stage. Start with the attack pattern you can control, reserve the passive items needed for its evolutions, and finish one weapon before spreading levels across the whole loadout.
These templates use base-game weapons and do not require DLC, a specific Arcana, or a large Golden Egg investment. They are starting plans for ordinary solo stages, not guaranteed clears or rankings.
Pick a template by the problem you need to solve
Problem during the run | Start with | Evolution pairs to reserve |
|---|---|---|
Enemies reach you from several sides | Magic Wand and King Bible | Magic Wand + Empty Tome; King Bible + Spellbinder |
You need to open a path in the direction you are moving | Knife | Knife + Bracer |
You want several evolutions built around passive items that also improve the loadout | Santa Water, King Bible, Axe | Attractorb, Spellbinder, Candelabrador |
Use the table as a first decision, not as an instruction to fill every slot immediately. Your starting weapon and the items offered during the run still matter.
Template 1: balanced automatic coverage
Weapon | Passive item | Evolution |
|---|---|---|
Magic Wand | Empty Tome | Holy Wand |
King Bible | Spellbinder | Unholy Vespers |
Whip | Hollow Heart | Bloody Tear |
Magic Wand targets a nearby enemy, while King Bible circles the character. This gives the loadout two different attack patterns without requiring constant directional aiming.
Secure Empty Tome and Spellbinder before filling all passive slots. Empty Tome reduces weapon cooldown by 8% per level, up to 40% at level 5. Spellbinder extends weapon duration by 10% per level, up to 50% at level 5. Hollow Heart increases maximum health and completes the Whip evolution pair.
Raise the weapon already doing useful damage instead of leveling all three equally. If Magic Wand is closest to level 8, finish it first; if King Bible is preventing nearby enemies from closing in, continue that route.
Template 2: directional travel
Weapon | Passive item | Evolution |
|---|---|---|
Knife | Bracer | Thousand Edge |
Runetracer | Armor | NO FUTURE |
Lightning Ring | Duplicator | Thunder Loop |
Knife fires in the direction the character faces. Point toward the route you want to open, create space, and then move through it. If you spend the whole run facing away from the intended route, Knife will not solve the path ahead.
Bracer raises projectile speed by 10% per level, up to 50% at level 5. Armor raises Armor by 1 per level, and Duplicator adds one projectile per level for two levels. Each is also the passive item for one weapon in this template.
This plan does not provide automatic healing. Change direction before the character is surrounded, and use the remaining slots for the weakness that actually appears in the run.
Template 3: hold an area and collect experience
Weapon | Passive item | Evolution |
|---|---|---|
Santa Water | Attractorb | La Borra |
King Bible | Spellbinder | Unholy Vespers |
Axe | Candelabrador | Death Spiral |
King Bible supplies a weapon that circles the character. The other two evolution pairs use passive items that improve pickup range, effect duration, and attack area.
Attractorb expands item pickup range and has five levels. Spellbinder extends effect duration, while Candelabrador increases attack area by 10% per level, up to 50% at level 5.
Do not wait for all three pairs while current damage falls behind. Complete the pair already closest to evolving, then use the second and third pairs as the run allows.
How to assemble any template
- Choose one main weapon from the template.
- Reserve one passive slot for that weapon's evolution item.
- Concentrate level-ups into the main weapon until it reaches level 8.
- Open a chest that can produce an evolution while holding the matching passive item.
- Start the second pair only after the first plan is secure.
- Use open slots to correct the problem seen in the current run.
The eight base-game pairs listed here require the weapon at level 8 and the matching passive item. The passive item does not need to be at maximum level for these particular evolutions.
See the build basics guide for slot planning and the base-game evolution list for a compact recipe table.
When the planned item does not appear
- Do not stop upgrading useful damage while waiting for one passive item.
- If another weapon and its passive item already match, finish that evolution first.
- Keep at least one passive slot open until the main pair is secured.
- If a required item is still locked, use the run to complete that unlock instead of forcing the full template.
The goal is not to reproduce a screenshot exactly. It is to leave the run with at least one completed evolution and a clear reason for every remaining slot.
