How to Unlock Smith IV with Commands or a Spell

For the normal Smith IV unlock, type the first `spam` on the main menu, then complete the remaining inputs within 30 seconds: `spam` in Character Selection, `spam` in Stage Selection, and `humbug` after the run begins. Exdash and Toastie must both be unlocked first.
Keyboard unlock steps
- Unlock Exdash and Toastie.
- On the main menu, type `spam` and press Enter.
- Within 30 seconds, open Character Selection, type `spam`, and press Enter.
- Choose any character, then type `spam` and press Enter in Stage Selection.
- Start any stage.
- Finish any starting Arcana or similar selection, then type `humbug` and press Enter once you can control the character.
- End the run and check Character Selection for Smith IV.
Use a mouse or controller for menu navigation when possible. Arrow-key and Enter navigation can interfere with the hidden text input.
Spell route on mobile and console
- Unlock Exdash and Toastie.
- Obtain the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane.
- Open the spell-entry feature made available by the relic.
- Enter `maybeimastallion`.
If the ordinary Secrets list has no input field, do not type into that screen. Confirm that the relic is obtained and that you opened its spell-entry feature. The multi-screen normal route requires an external keyboard on mobile.
How to use Smith IV
Smith IV starts with Vandalier, 7 Max Health, +20% Move Speed, -10% Might, -10% Area, -50% Projectile Speed, -10% Duration, +10% Cooldown, and +100% Luck. Prioritize an easy-to-aim weapon and protection against early contact.
Every level adds +0.01 Recovery, +0.7% Might, Area, Projectile Speed, and Duration, -0.25% Cooldown, and +1% Luck. These character bonuses have no cap, so early survival and fast experience gain lead to a powerful late run.
Common mistakes
- Both Exdash and Toastie are prerequisites.
- Enter the run within 30 seconds of the first command.
- If an Arcana selection appears, enter `humbug` after completing it.
- The spell route does not bypass the two character prerequisites.
