How to Unlock and Use Bats Bats Bats
Short answer: revisit Bat Country and collect all nine Gold Rings to the northeast
Item | Details |
|---|---|
Prerequisite | Collect Apoplexy and Chaos Malachite in earlier runs |
Unlock | Collect all nine Gold Rings arranged in a circle in Bat Country |
Starting weapon | Mazo Familiar |
Spell | `whydithavetobebats` |
Bats Bats Bats is unlocked after you collect Apoplexy and Chaos Malachite, revisit Bat Country, and take all nine Gold Rings in the circle northeast of the starting point.
Normal unlock steps
- Collect Apoplexy at 9:00 and Chaos Malachite at 18:00 in Bat Country.
- Start a new Bat Country run after both relics have been collected.
- Follow the on-screen indicators northeast from the starting area.
- Enter the ring formation and collect all nine Gold Rings.
- Confirm the unlock, end the run, and buy Bats Bats Bats from character selection.
Do not search for the ring during the same run in which you first collect the relics. The ring appears on a later visit, and collecting only one Gold Ring is not enough.
Spell alternative
After obtaining the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane and gaining access to spell entry, enter `whydithavetobebats`.
Revivals increase Amount and create followers
Bats starts with Mazo Familiar, 180 Max Health, +80% Move Speed, and +2 Revivals. Mazo Familiar gains 1 base damage whenever the character levels up, with no cap. Each available Revival increases Amount by 1; consuming a Revival removes that part of the bonus.
Reviving also creates a bat follower. More Revival can strengthen this identity, but preserving the initial revivals as late-run insurance is often safer on the first attempt.
Common mistakes
- Collect both Apoplexy and Chaos Malachite first.
- Re-enter Bat Country in a new run before looking for the ring.
- Travel northeast and collect all nine Gold Rings.
- Character price scales with previous purchases, so it is not presented as a fixed cost.
