How to Unlock and Evolve Chaos Rune in Vampire Survivors
Short answer: cast the spell `guinigigi`
Item | Details |
|---|---|
Unlock | Enter `guinigigi` in the Secrets spell field |
Attack | Launches red runes upward; they damage enemies while falling after the apex |
Evolution | Level 8 Chaos Rune + level 5 Spellbinder = Wicked Ruler |
Chaos Rune is a secret base-game weapon. It is not unlocked through the normal Unlocks checklist. Obtain the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane, open the spell field in Secrets, and enter `guinigigi`.
How to unlock Chaos Rune
- Obtain the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane to enable spell casting.
- On a supported platform, open the spell field in the Secrets menu.
- Enter `guinigigi` and confirm it.
- Start a run and select Chaos Rune from a level-up choice.
- Pick it once to register it in the Collection.
Some platforms do not show a spell field, while others use a different spelling. If the field is available but `guinigigi` does not work, check the official Wiki spell list and try `guinigi`.
How the weapon works
Chaos Rune sends red runes upward from the bottom of the screen. They do not damage enemies while rising; the hit boxes activate after each rune passes its apex and falls.
Speed and Duration affect the number of hit boxes rather than simply changing travel distance. Pair it with an immediate close-range weapon because its first hit is delayed.
How to evolve it into Wicked Ruler
- Raise Chaos Rune to level 8.
- Raise Spellbinder to level 5.
- Open a chest that can grant an evolution.
Spellbinder must be at maximum level. Preserve an eligible chest until both requirements are ready.
If it does not unlock or evolve
- Spell casting requires the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane.
- After casting the spell, Chaos Rune may still require rerolls before it appears in a level-up choice.
- Confirm both Chaos Rune and Spellbinder are at maximum level.
- Bronze or otherwise ineligible chests will not grant the evolution.
