Obsidian Knight: How to Disable Unwanted Skill Cards
The short answer: exclude redundant roles gradually, not every card you skipped once
Official App Store and Google Play update information describes a feature that removes unwanted skills from in-battle choices and a route to that setting from the pre-battle screen. A current dedicated wiki and independent player reports agree that you first unlock a slot for the relevant rarity in the set-upgrade tree, then select the card from the skill list.
Start with cards whose role is redundant in the current plan instead of excluding a large group at once. Use the current screen for the exact unlock level, Darksteel cost, and number of available slots.
Who should use this feature
- Unwanted cards repeatedly occupy the selection screen.
- Cards from unrelated attack types keep interrupting the build.
- You want to compare repeated runs using the same plan.
If you do not yet understand card triggers and roles, classify them first with the Skill Card selection guide.
Record five details before changing the pool
- Device platform and app version.
- Cards currently excluded.
- Remaining trigger, payoff, survival, and group-coverage roles.
- Missing build component across the last three runs.
- Test destination and first failure.
If you save a screenshot, keep card names and enabled or disabled states readable together.
Unlock a slot before disabling the card
If the `Disable` button is visible but does nothing, the missing requirement may be in the set-upgrade tree rather than on the card screen.
- Open `Inventory`.
- Open `Set upgrades`.
- Find a Darksteel upgrade that disables a card of the same rarity as your target.
- Confirm that its prerequisite nodes and the slot itself are unlocked.
- Return to the skill list and select the target card.
- Press `Disable` and confirm that it appears in the disabled-card list.
Match the Common, Rare, or Epic rarity to the slot you unlocked. Public sources do not establish one fixed cost or maximum slot count for every current version, so follow the values shown in your game.
Seven steps for narrowing the pool
- Open the disabled-card list from the pre-battle screen or skill list.
- List cards not selected in the last three runs.
- Classify each as trigger, payoff, survival, or group coverage.
- Select only cards whose role another available card already covers.
- Exclude one card or one role first.
- Test three times with the same gear, card plan, and destination.
- Record whether the chain completes more often or another role becomes missing.
Start with cards whose role clearly overlaps instead of excluding a large group at once. Removing too many choices can also remove an effect the build still needs.
Cards to keep or review
Card role | Suggested treatment |
|---|---|
Directly improves the main attack | Keep |
Provides recovery or damage mitigation | Keep until survival is stable |
Covers crowd clearing or a strong enemy | Keep when that situation matters |
Never selected and duplicates another role | Candidate for exclusion |
Check that four roles are not accidentally removed
Role | Question |
|---|---|
Trigger | Does a repeatable condition such as Critical, Dodge, or Potion remain? |
Payoff | Does the trigger still lead to damage, healing, Stun, or another result? |
Survival | Is there a way to prevent or recover from the first collapse? |
Enemy-line coverage | Can the plan handle accumulating normal enemies or the back line? |
This is not a rule that every build must use all four roles. It checks whether exclusion removed the role needed for the current failure.
Restore cards when the pool becomes too narrow
New problem | Card to reconsider |
|---|---|
The run ends early | A removed survival card |
Normal enemies accumulate | Group coverage or repeated-trigger support |
A trigger remains without payoff | A removed damage or recovery payoff |
Choices are narrow but the build never completes | Restore the most recently removed card and retest |
Restore one card at a time so the cause remains measurable.

If the setting is not visible, record the platform, app version, current progression, `Inventory`, `Set upgrades`, and skill-list screens. Do not fill in an unverified unlock level, fixed Darksteel cost, or card limit.
