Obsidian Knight: What to Do First
Follow these seven steps when you start
When you begin Obsidian Knight, learn the order of combat, Skill Cards, equipment, and currencies before searching for endgame gear names or a final build. Movement and attacks proceed automatically. Your main decision during combat is choosing one of three Skill Cards when the level-up choice appears.
This guide is for first-time players who do not know what to press, players checking the early route before spending a currency, and beginners repeating the same progression wall.
The first seven actions
1. Enter the first Story run without changing everything
Use the first attempt as a baseline. Note the current equipment, starting point, selected cards, and first point where the run breaks. A defeat still identifies what the next attempt needs.
2. Choose one trigger from the three Skill Cards
Start with one recurring condition such as Critical, Dodge, Potion use, or defeating an enemy. Do not choose from name or rarity alone. Read what must happen for the card to activate.
3. Connect an effect to that trigger
After choosing a trigger, connect damage, multi-target effects, Stun, recovery, or Potion refill. Testing several effects from one recurring condition is easier to evaluate than collecting unrelated triggers.
4. Compare only the new equipment after the run
Official information identifies equipment, item collection, and leveling as permanent progression systems. Do not replace every slot together. Compare one newly acquired piece with the currently equipped piece.
Check more than attack. Read any visible Armor, HP, Critical, Dodge, or Skill Card-related effect, and do not fill in an effect that is absent from the current screen.
5. Do not empty a currency before checking its uses
Community discussions repeatedly recommend preserving Rubies for lasting account benefits before spending them on one-time equipment chests. Current prices and uses can change, so verify the screen instead of following an old fixed shopping list.
Use these rules on the first day:
- record the currency name and balance;
- read the price and exact result on the confirmation screen;
- if another screen uses the same currency, compare both before buying.
6. Choose newly visible modes from your objective
When PvP, Challenge, Dungeon, Treasure Run, or another activity appears, you do not need to progress every mode at once. Choose one based on the current need, such as Gold, permanent progression, high-difficulty practice, or shared content.
7. Change one part matching the first failure
First result | Check on the next attempt |
|---|---|
Regular enemies remain | Whether the main trigger connects to a multi-target effect |
The run ends early | Whether one Armor, HP, Dodge, or Potion option can improve survival |
Only a strong enemy stops the run | Whether Stun, recovery, or sustained damage is missing |
Potions run out | Whether a refill condition connects to the use effect |
Results vary every time | Repeat the same plan three times and compare the stopping point |
Do not change equipment, card direction, and currency spending together. One change per attempt makes the cause of improvement visible.
First 30-minute checklist
Timing | Action | Record |
|---|---|---|
Before combat | Check equipment and mode | Equipment and Story location |
Level up | Read all three activation conditions | Chosen trigger |
During combat | Observe the automatic result | First failure |
After combat | Check new equipment and rewards | One candidate change |
Before retrying | Change one item | Stopping point before and after |
What you do not need on the first day
- spending every currency from a best-gear ranking;
- changing every equipment slot and the card plan after one defeat;
- optimizing a mode that is not unlocked;
- treating ads or purchases as required progression;
- applying old fixed prices, unlock levels, or reward tables to the current version.
Check these details in your current version
- the current tutorial screen and exact button order;
- fixed currency prices or one optimal purchase order;
- one best early-game equipment or Skill Card setup;
- exact unlock levels for every mode;
- progress speed that assumes ads or purchases.
