Obsidian Knight: Why You Keep Losing and How to Fix It
When you keep losing at the same point in Obsidian Knight, record the first thing that failed before raising Power everywhere. Movement and attacks run automatically, so the main variables are pre-run equipment and permanent progression, plus Skill Card choices during the run. Test those two groups separately.
Put the failure into one of five groups
Symptom | Likely gap | Change for the next attempt |
|---|---|---|
You die to a few attacks near the start | Base survival, equipment, or level | One equipment or permanent-upgrade change |
HP and Potions run out partway through | Healing loop, Potion refill, or Dodge | One Skill Card that connects to survival |
You survive but time out | Damage chain, multi-target damage, or single-target damage | One attack payoff connected to the current trigger |
Normal enemies fall but the boss remains | Sustained damage or resources at boss arrival | Either path efficiency or boss damage, not both |
The failure point changes every run | Scattered cards or inconsistent test conditions | Keep the first trigger consistent |
If several symptoms appear in one run, diagnose the earliest one. A first failure can create the damage or healing shortage seen later.
1. You die near the start
When the run ends before Skill Cards can form a chain, check pre-run preparation before planning a complex combo.
- Confirm that every equipment slot is filled.
- Compare newly collected equipment.
- Check character levels and available permanent upgrades.
- Check whether damage has been raised while survival was ignored.
Official sources identify equipment, item collection, and character levels as core progression. Do not judge the change only by displayed Power. Retry the same wall and check whether you survive the first damaging sequence longer.
Use the Power increase checklist and change only one permanent system at a time.
2. HP and Potions run out midway
For gradual attrition, do not stop at taking one healing card. Check whether recovery or Potions can return repeatedly.
- Choose one frequent trigger such as Critical, Dodge, or a kill.
- Connect that trigger to Potion refill or healing.
- Check what happens after Potion use: healing, Armor, damage, or control.
- Separate a missing supply from a weak after-use effect.
A long run gives a multi-card loop more time to form. A short fight can end before both supply and payoff appear. In shorter modes, prefer survival that works with fewer prerequisite cards.
3. You survive but time out
When survival is sufficient but enemies remain, inspect the damage chain before adding more defense.
- Critical chance exists, but nothing useful happens after a Critical.
- Dodge increases, but Dodge does not produce damage.
- Potions refill, but Potion use does not contribute damage.
- Single-target attacks leave groups or back-line enemies alive.
- Stun delays enemies, but no damage finishes them.
Community reports include runs where control extended the fight but did not prevent a timeout. Separate stopping an enemy from defeating it, then add one damage payoff to the trigger you already use.
4. Normal enemies fall but the boss stops you
Separate the run before boss arrival from the boss fight itself.
State on arrival | Fix first |
|---|---|
Low HP, Armor, or Potions | Group clearing or recovery during the path |
Resources remain but the boss survives | Sustained damage from the current trigger |
You die suddenly during the boss | Survival against the first attack pattern that breaks the run |
The cards rarely assemble | A chain that needs fewer pieces |
Critical, Potion, Dodge, and Stun combinations appear in successful community examples, but none is universal. Their reliability changes with fight length and the cards offered. Use Boss combat diagnosis to separate the path, arrival state, and boss phase.
5. The failure point changes every run
If results vary heavily, check whether the first Skill Card trigger and equipment both change between attempts.
For the next three attempts:
- Keep equipment and permanent upgrades fixed.
- Choose one starting direction: Critical, Dodge, Potion, or another repeatable trigger.
- Connect that trigger to one damage and one survival payoff.
- Use the same mode and difficulty, then record only the first failure.
Card offers remain random. Recording whether the trigger, survival payoff, or damage payoff was missing tells you whether to review Disable Cards or permanent progression next.
Skill Cards or permanent progression?
Comparison result | Review next |
|---|---|
A strong chain creates a much deeper run | Skill Card selection and Disable Cards |
Even a strong chain dies near the start | Equipment, level, and permanent upgrades |
Survival is stable but the run times out | Damage chain, weapon, or attack-side permanent upgrades |
Equipment changes do not move the wall | Enemy interaction, card trigger, or mode-specific condition |
A new wall appears after improvement | Record the new first failure and repeat the diagnosis |
Use Skill Card selection for in-run decisions and Equipment progression for pre-run changes.

Use attempt 1 as the baseline. Change only the card plan in attempt 2. Keep the card plan and change one permanent-progression item in attempt 3. Do not replace equipment and rebuild every card direction in the same comparison.
Diagnosis order
- Record the first failed symptom.
- Decide whether the likely cause is in-run cards or permanent progression.
- Change one item for the next attempt.
- Compare three attempts under similar conditions.
- Keep only the change that improved the result.
- When a new failure appears, classify it from the start.
Values this guide does not fix
- Required Power for a specific stage or boss
- One best card, equipment piece, or set
- Card multipliers, enemy HP, or time limits
- Auto-Potion unlock requirements and prices
- The success rate of a specific build
These can change by update, mode, card offers, and account progression. Use the current game display as the final reference.
