Ant Colony Resources: Food, Chitin, Sugar, and Amber
Match each resource to the action you want to perform
Food alone does not complete card merging or Workshop upgrades. In Ant Colony, the required resource changes depending on whether the goal is producing ants, upgrading ants, merging cards, or obtaining ants.
Resource | Main use | First place to check |
|---|---|---|
Food | Producing ants | Food stock and the queen's production screen |
Chitin | Upgrading ants in the Workshop | Chitin stock and the Workshop |
Sugar | Merging cards | The selected cards and displayed cost |
Amber | A resource used to obtain ants | The current Amber description and available target |
Food for production, Chitin for upgrades
Ant production uses Food. If production stalls, separate a low stock from a delivery problem. Workshop upgrades use Chitin, so extra Food does not replace missing Chitin.
Do not copy old fixed costs into a current run. Read the amount displayed by the action being performed.
Sugar and Amber are not interchangeable
Sugar is used for card merging. Before spending it, check whether the selected card is one you use and how much Sugar remains afterward. Amber is associated with obtaining ants; read the current target and conditions instead of assuming a guaranteed result.
When Food is full but Chitin collection stalls
Ants carrying Food can wait near the nest entrance until storage becomes available. Before adding more gatherers, check:
- Whether Food Stock is full.
- Whether waiting ants are carrying Food.
- Which direction contains the desired Chitin.
Storage waiting and failure to discover a Chitin route are separate problems.
